EXPOSING RADICAL ISLAMIST HYPOCRISY AT GROUND ZERO BY NEWT GINGRICH

There are many reasons to doubt the stated intentions of Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, the man behind the Ground Zero mosque. After 9/11 he did not hesitate to condemn the United States as an “accessory” to the attacks but more recently refused to condemn Hamas as a terrorist organization. This is unsurprising considering he has well-established ties to U.S. branches of the Muslim Brotherhood. He has also refused to reveal the sources of funding for the mosque project, which is projected to cost $100 million.

More importantly, he is an apologist for sharia supremacy. In a recent op-ed, Rauf actually compared sharia law with the Declaration of Independence. This isn’t mere dishonesty; it is an Orwellian attempt to cause moral confusion about the nature of radical Islamism.
The true intentions of Rauf are also revealed by the name initially proposed for the Ground Zero mosque–”Cordoba House”–which is named for a city in Spain where a conquering Muslim army replaced a church with a mosque. This name is a very direct historical indication that the Ground Zero mosque is all about conquest and thus an assertion of Islamist triumphalism which we should not tolerate.
They say they’re interfaith, but they didn’t propose the building of a mosque, church and synagogue. Instead they proposed a 13-story mosque and community center that will extol the glories of Islamic tolerance for people of other faiths, all while overlooking the site where radical Islamists killed almost 3,000 people in a shocking act of hatred.
Building this structure on the edge of the battlefield created by radical Islamists is not a celebration of religious pluralism and mutual tolerance; it is a political statement of shocking arrogance and hypocrisy.
We need to have the moral courage to denounce it. It is simply grotesque to erect a mosque at the site of the most visible and powerful symbol of the horrible consequences of radical Islamist ideology. Well-meaning Muslims, with common human sensitivity to the victims’ families, realize they have plenty of other places to gather and worship. But for radical Islamists, the mosque would become an icon of triumph, encouraging them in their challenge to our civilization.
Apologists for radical Islamist hypocrisy are trying to argue that we have to allow the construction of this mosque in order to prove America’s commitment to religious liberty. They say this despite the fact that there are already over 100 mosques in New York City.
In fact, they’re partially correct-this is a test of our commitment to religious liberty. It is a test to see if we have the resolve to face down an ideology that aims to destroy religious liberty in America, and every other freedom we hold dear.

IF YOU WANTED TO GO OUT TO DINNER TO CELEBRATE A SPECIAL FAMILY EVENT WOULD YOU GO TO A LARGE CHAIN RESTAURANT, OR A SPECIAL LOCAL INDEPENDENT RESTAURANT? SO WHY NOT DO THE SAME WHEN BUYING OR SELLING A HOME? OF COURSE MAKING THIS DECISION WOULD MEAN SEPARATING YOURSELF FROM THE EXISTING HERD MENTALITY. IF YOU NEED GARISH,OR OSTENTATIOUS GIMMICKS SUCH AS MASSIVE SMILING FACIALS ADORNING A HUMVEE, COWBOY HATS, STAGED STUDIO HEAD SHOTS, SLOGANS PROCLAIMING HONESTY AND PROFESSIONALISM (I’M SUSPICIOUS OF PEOPLE WHO CONSTANTLY SAY “HONESTLY”, OR “TRUST ME”) OR HUGE SHRINK WRAPPED MOTOR HOMES BLATANTLY PARKED IN NEIGHBORHOODS WHERE STANDING BILLBOARDS ARE NOT ALLOWED- DON’T CALL US - WE DON’T DO THAT.

The NYC Health Department has put forth the following safety message. In the wake of two recent incidents in which children fell from unguarded windows in Brooklyn and the Bronx, the Health Department is urging New Yorkers to make sure window guards are in place. The falls, both involving 2-year-olds, could have been prevented with properly installed window guards. Both children recovered after suffering minor injuries, but either fall could have been fatal and both were avoidable. To prevent falls, City law requires the owner of any building with three or more apartments to install window guards in units housing children under age 11. Window guards are a good idea in any building unit that children visit regularly, and they’re critical in units where children live or attend day care. People living in one- or two-family homes should consider installing guards in any window not used as an emergency exit.

In 2009, 13 New York City children fell from residential windows. Four of the falls resulted in death, and all of the falls – including the fatal ones – could have been prevented by properly installed window guards.

An approved window guard installed safely“During the summer, open windows offer relief from the heat but they can pose hazards for small children,” said Dr. Thomas Farley, New York City Health Commissioner. “Window guards can prevent falls and save lives, but only if landlords, tenants and parents make sure they are properly installed. Any parent or caregiver who doesn’t have window guards securely in place should call a landlord immediately to have them installed.”

Both building owners and tenants have a responsibility to keep buildings safe for children. Tenants whose landlords are unresponsive should call 311 to file a complaint. Building owners can also call 311 to report tenants who refuse to allow guards to be installed as required by law. Unguarded windows in homes with children should not be opened more than 4½ inches until a window guard is installed.

If children 10 years of age or younger live in your apartment, or if you provide any type of child care services in your apartment, you must:

  • Inform the building owner and/or complete the annual notice provided by the landlord.
  • Allow the building owner or a representative to access to the apartment to install window guards or stopping devices that keep windows from opening more than 4½ inches.
  • Not remove window guards or stopping devices once they are installed.
  • Not alter window guards or stopping devices.
  • Not remove any part of a window guard or stopping device.

Approved Window Guards and Proper Installation

Every window guard must have a Health Department approval number on the inside stile and must be appropriate for the window it occupies. Approved guards do not have spaces large enough for a 5-inch object to pass through. Any guard that has more than a 4½-inch space between the bottom bar and the windowsill, or the top bar and the base of the raised window, is not installed properly. For information on approved window guards, where to buy them and how to install them, New Yorkers can call 311 and ask for the Health Department’s Window Falls Prevention Program.

Today I went to better gourmet health kitchen 4085 Victory Blvd. Staten Island NY for lunch. It’s an eat in or take out healthy style restaurant. Simple healthy food such as salads, wraps and sandwiches. I placed an order to take out. When I entered, and placed my order there were many empty tables, but the the place soon filled. It looked like a great business, BUT the staff was clearly overwhelmed, and unable to keep pace with the many orders. Frustration was evident on many of the waiting customer’s faces. I sat there wondering why is it taking so long to prepare a wrap? 37 minutes later I received my takeout food. It was good, but certainly not worth the wait. Would I go back?, probably not. It’s a great idea, but without the proper management to keep things moving I can’t recommend it. That’s my opinion.

It’s the 21st-century equivalent of the 212 area code. New York City is on the verge of getting its very own Internet domain that will give area Web sites the option of putting an “.nyc” rather than a “.com” at the end of their addresses.

City officials yesterday announced they were looking for private firms to help them apply to the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numerals — the world body that coordinates Web naming — and to operate the .nyc domain.

The ICANN recently changed its rules so that anyone could apply to buy a top-level domain, or Web address suffix.

New York City is the first American city to announce its intention to land its very own top-level domain.
“New York City, like many of its global competitors, plans to apply for a top-level domain name. I hope that this [domain] will assist local merchants based in New York City to be able to brand their businesses as located in the five boroughs,” Councilwoman Gale Brewer said.

A host of cities are expected to rush to get their localized domains, as well as large companies and specialty entrepreneurs who will want to shell out to get a domain like .movies or .watches.

But becoming a Webmaster of your own private domain won’t be cheap.

The application alone costs $185,000, and estimates put the cost of the entire process, including legal fees and the level of technology needed to run your own domain, at $1 million.

Move over Bloomberg, there’s a new billionaire in town, and he’s just as old, white and male. His big plans include bringing subway fares down to a nickel by including cattle and bulk freight transportation through our underground system. Don’t ask questions, it just makes sense! And who can naysay his plan to sell Staten Island to New Jersey?

The New York City Landmarks Preservation today voted unanimously to approve the designations of Horton’s Row on Staten Island, a group of four, rare single-family rowhouses on Staten Island, citing their distinctive architecture and important roles in the history of housing in New York City. Horton’s Row is comprised of four rarowhouses at 411, 413, 415 and 417 Westervelt avenues between Scribner and Corson avenues in Tompkinsville, located in northeastern Staten Island. They were constructed between 1880 & 1882, and were originally part of 12 identical attached masonry rowhouses that were built as affordable rental housing for middle-class families, but were converted to multi-family flats around 1901. The rowhouses were developed by Harry L. Horton, a successful banker and broker who also constructed and operated water plants on Staten Island, and was the president of the village of New Brighton.
The row was considered an anomaly, not only because most dwellings constructed in the 19th century on Staten Island were single-family frame houses, but also because it’s built on a slope with each building rising higher than the other, creating a stepped pattern.
